How it is built:

• 3D printed layer by layer: skin, connective tissue, muscles, fat and bone

• More than 50 separately defined volumes, each with its own material recipe

• 7 base materials, combined into a wide range of digital materials and post-processed after printing

• The model contains artificial blood

What you can train:

• Upper and lower blepharoplasty

• Ptosis correction, including frontalis sling technique

• Ectropion repair with lateral tarsal strip

• Canthoplasty and canthopexy

• Eyelid malposition correction

• Direct flap and advancement flap reconstruction

• Rotation flap technique

• Wound drainage simulation and wound closure

• Primary closure technique

Model features:

• Ectropion simulation: the lower lid everts outward, so lateral tarsal strip surgery can be practised realistically

• Periosteum on the lateral orbital rim: the tarsus can be anchored laterally under tension, as in the real procedure

• Natural proportions between medial lid margin, nasal bridge, eye and brow

• Skin material with flow fibres for realistic cutting and suturing in upper and lower blepharoplasty

• Realistic connective and fat tissue; the orbital septum follows the skin closely

• Frontalis muscle close to the bone and a flat frontal bone: space between muscle and skin for frontalis sling training

• Skin sits loosely on the frame instead of being fixed to it, giving a tension-free model

Anatomical scope: upper and lower lacrimal canaliculi are indicated but not functional; lacrimal drainage surgery is covered by a separate model. The nasal region and the maxillary and nasal bones are represented schematically only.

Storage: keep the model in an airtight container or zip bag. This keeps the blood inside the model liquid.

Recommended suture: Suture 5/0 Polypropylene Blue 90 cm Double (PN0424)

For all suturing on the M.A.R.K.O. LID we recommend this 5/0 polypropylene suture. It holds securely in the model's skin and tissue layers and does not tear out as quickly during repeated practice, so every model delivers more training rounds.
