Trocar placement & port geometry
Every case starts at the ports. Practice angled, self-sealing sclerotomies at a consistent distance from the limbus until placement, spacing and valve handling are automatic, so your attention stays inside the eye, not at the entry sites.

Core vitrectomy
Build a feel for cutter settings, aspiration and chamber stability while staying safely clear of the lens and retina. Repeat the same core removal pattern until your port-to-port movements become smooth and economical. For deeper background, read our vitrectomy wetlab training guide.

Visualization & illumination
Posterior segment surgery is bimanual: light pipe in one hand, instrument in the other. Train endoillumination angles and hand coordination until you can keep a stable, well-lit view while working, one of the most underrated skills in early PPV training.

Stains, heavy liquid & silicone oil
Handling tamponades and stains has its own choreography: injection rates, interface control, avoiding subretinal migration. Low-cost consumables let you rehearse these steps as often as you like before your first real exchange.

Air-fluid exchange & bubble control
The exchange is where visibility collapses for beginners. Train fluid-air exchange and bubble behaviour in a controlled model before it costs you orientation in a real case.
Make every run count: film your sessions and review them afterwards. Self-review roughly doubles the value of each repetition, and the Cam 4 Eyes records directly through the model. -

Yes. BubbleGuard 4 Training is built specifically for vitrectomy air bubble control, so you can rehearse the exchange before it costs you visibility in a real case.
