Intravitreal Injection (IVT) Training: Building Confidence Safely

Intravitreal injection is one of the most frequently performed procedures in ophthalmology — and despite being routine, the margin for error is small. Needle placement, injection distance from the limbus, and clean technique have to be right every time.

That's why structured practice matters. Repetition on a realistic model lets residents, fellows and practitioners build the muscle memory to perform IVT calmly and safely, long before the first patient. What you rehearse: needle placement and angulation, the 3.5–4 mm injection site, aseptic workflow, and anti-VEGF or steroid simulation — until the first patient feels like the fiftieth rehearsal.
