What ophthalmic surgical training models cost
Short answer: artificial training eyes cost €45–€99 per eye and are sold in packs of 6 or 12, with packs starting at €450. A complete cataract practice setup — 12 eyes plus a holder — starts at €614.90. Every price on this website is public: you never need to request a quote to find out what something costs.
Most manufacturers of ophthalmic training models publish no prices at all. We think that is the wrong way round. A resident paying out of pocket and a department head planning next year's teaching budget both need a number before they can make a decision. So here is ours.

All prices in euro, excluding VAT. Austrian VAT (20%) applies to orders within Austria; EU customers with a valid VAT-ID are invoiced VAT-free as intra-community supplies; orders outside the EU are generally VAT-exempt, with local import duties the responsibility of the recipient.
Why prices differ between models
Three things drive the price of an artificial eye: the number of separately printed anatomical layers, the materials used, and how many times the model can be used before it has to be replaced. A single-use cataract eye with a printable capsular bag is a different product from a multi-layer eyelid model that a surgeon can suture, remove and re-attach. All models are designed with surgeons and anatomists and manufactured in Innsbruck, Austria.

Volume pricing and institutional orders
Wetlab and congress orders — from 10 to 10,000+ eyes — qualify for volume pricing. We invoice institutions directly, accept purchase orders, and ship worldwide from Innsbruck. Customers with a valid EU VAT-ID are invoiced without VAT as intra-community supplies.

Questions about price
Do I have to request a quote to see prices?
No. Every standard product is priced in our store. Quotes are only needed for custom models, congress volumes and branded editions.
Are artificial eyes cheaper than practising on porcine eyes?
Not per unit — a porcine eye costs a fraction of an artificial one. But animal eyes need a cold chain, ethics-compliant disposal and a lab permitted to handle biological material, and their lens anatomy differs from the human eye in ways that matter for cataract training. For most training settings the total cost per session is comparable, and an artificial model is available on demand rather than on delivery day.
How often does a model need to be replaced?
It depends on the procedure. For intravitreal injection training a single eye can be used for multiple injections. For more invasive procedures like capsulorhexis or corneal transplant training, each eye is designed for single use per procedure to ensure consistent tactile feedback. That is why cataract eyes come in packs of 12.
