If you order this product, you receive 12 eyes in 6 containers with moisture. You should also protect the container from sunlight if possible since the artificial eye is mostly made out of photoreactive 3D-printed materials. The material reacts to temperature fluctuations. In the cold, the material hardens, so to attain the most realistic training experience, the artificial eye should be stored at room temperature.

Product description:

Our Eye 4 Foreign Bodies/Dropped Nucleus is mimicking a whole eye without lens for simulating posterior related operations. This model has a transparent sclera for easy orientation. This results in less support for vitrectomy ports (Microincision Vitrectomy Trocars). Several procedures can be simulated with such a configuration: producing of pars plana vitrectomy ports, removal of clouded vitreous, vitreous staining (LINK), membranectomy, fluid/air exchange, air/gas exchange, silicone oil injection, photocoagulation, vitreous floaters, vitreous hemorrhage simulation with staining solution (LINK), removal of intraocular foreign bodies (IOFBs).

You can choose between several different options:

Iris: 5mm, 6mm, and 7mm

Our iris is mostly for a more realistic behavior, but you can also use it for simulating a non-dilating/not fully dilating, or inoperative floppy iris syndrome. Our iris material is slightly firmer; therefore, we start already with a diameter of 5mm because Tension Rings or other pupil dilators would not spread apart a 2mm artificial iris.

Dropped Nucleus: Yes or No

This complication can occur at any stage of phacoemulsification (i.e., during hydrodissection, sculpting, or nuclear segment removal). It can even occur during phacoemulsification done by experienced surgeons. With the Dropped Nucleus option, you can train this prevalent accident by using PPV. (LINK)

ILM Peeling: Yes or No

Use a very fine forceps to peel the ILM from the underlying retina. We have no epiretinal membranes or posterior hyaloid. Also, the ILM foil is not very realistic, but you learn a lot, especially the instrument handling and the feeling of depth.

Foreign Body: Other or Magnetic

A very common operation is to find a metal flake or chip in the posterior segment. We also have non-magnetic round colored objects. Recovery of such objects does not take very long, but it helps a lot to get the feeling of depth and three-dimensionality.

Sometimes we are not in the best mood or our machines are getting sloppy. This can result in lower quality as we like to offer you. In very few cases, you can get hold of the manufacturer of such products. With us you are lucky, though, because if you are not happy with the quality of our product, please contact us and we will not only swap it, no, we will replace it doubly.
